Castello San Salvatore: from the Middle Ages to today

The gorgeous Castello San Salvatore stands in Susegana, in the province of Treviso. The structure was erected at the turn of the 12th and 13th centuries at the behest of the Collalto family, nobles of Lombard origin. These decided to settle between the Pre-Alps and the Piave River, to control the fords in the area. In 1312, having completed the construction of the castle, the Collalto family obtained jurisdiction over the principalities of Collalto and San Salvatore from Henry VII.

In a short time, Castello San Salvatore grew by leaps and bounds, transforming into a small village. Numerous laborers were welcomed into it, who devoted themselves to the cultivation of the precious local grape. However, because of its strategic location, the complex was often at the center of battles, suffering heavy damage over the centuries. Until the 19th century Castello San Salvatore was cyclically damaged and rebuilt, becoming a stylistically varied fortification. Over the centuries the complex was also home to a renowned literary salon, even hosting Monsignor Giovanni Della Casa, author of The Galateo.

However, with the outbreak of World War I Castello San Salvatore was irreparably damaged. However, the Collalto family did not lose heart and, in 1943, began the recovery and reconstruction of the fortification. It took about 10 years to succeed in this undertaking, but thanks to their dedication Castello San Salvatore returned to its former glory. Over the following decades, the family continued the restoration of the interior of the complex, saving its rich artistic heritage. Construction continued until 2003, when Prince Manfredo inaugurated the new Castello San Salvatore, opening its doors to events and weddings.

In addition to being a wedding photographer, I am a husband (lucky!) and a dad (super lucky!).

I love happy tail wags and purring in the evening twilight, which is why we also have two beautiful furries in our family, Octavia and Nova.
I love the smell of the woods where everything is so wild, where you can reconnect deeply with nature. In the same way, I love the only means that allows you to stay firmly connected to the world around you, the motorbike.

My wife Giulia and I travelled across Europe to the North Cape, where we left a piece of our hearts.
