The location of Palazzo Dandolo is one of the structures that I have most appreciated during my experience as a wedding photographer in Venice. I have collected all the most important information, to allow you to get to know the history, the structure and answer the most frequently asked questions about the villa. Enjoy the reading!

Palazzo Dandolo: a history of over 500 years

Palazzo Dandolo is a historic residence built in the 14th century in the Castello district of Venice. The building faces directly onto the riva degli Schiavoni, a short distance from the splendid Piazza San Marco. The patrician Dandolo family commissioned its construction to provide a residence for its female members. About two centuries later, ownership of Palazzo Dandolo began to pass rapidly from family to family.

In 1536, the building was purchased by the Gritti, Venetian nobles. It later passed to the Bernardo, Mocenigo and Nani families. Already at that time it was described as the noblest building of the Serenissima, chosen as a residence by kings and powerful people. Palazzo Dandolo was transformed into a true social centre, hosting prestigious events. These included the celebrations held for the election of the King of Hungary and Bohemia as King of the Romans in 1530.

In 1822, the building was finally purchased by Giuseppe Dal Niel, better known as Danieli. The latter transformed the complex into a luxurious hotel, the Albergo Reale. Considered to be one of the most exclusive structures on an international level, illustrious personalities such as the King of Prussia, Dickens, Wagner, Proust and Chaplin were hosted there.

In 1895, ownership of the hotel passed to Signor Genovesi and Campi Bozzi & C. They carried out costly renovations and added electricity to the building. In 1948, Palazzo Dandolo underwent another major extension and restoration. Even today, the building remains one of the most famous hotels in Venice, frequented by VIPs and state figures. Exclusive events and weddings are also organised here.

Palazzo Dandolo: the perfect setting for a glamorous, princely wedding

Palazzo Dandolo, with its enviable view of St. Mark's Square, is a luxurious location suitable for princely weddings. It is, in fact, a simply enchanting building in which to organise exclusive events. Here history, art and architecture gently intertwine, offering unique and unforgettable sensations.

What is most striking about this splendid structure is certainly the breathtaking view of the riva degli Schiavoni. Directly overlooking the lagoon, from here your guests can enjoy the most romantic sunset in Venice. Sipping a delicious aperitif served on the exclusive terrace, it will be truly impossible not to fall in love with Palazzo Dandolo. On hot summer days, you can also organise your lavish banquet here, giving your guests VIP treatment.

If you prefer to celebrate your reception indoors, Palazzo Dandolo also makes its indoor salons available to the bride and groom. Sophisticatedly furnished and vibrant with beauty, these rooms exude a magical and timeless atmosphere. Snuggled in soft scarlet velvet armchairs, you can serve a regal banquet here, leaving all present open-mouthed. Events held in these Gothic halls are refined, romantic and dreamy.

The staff of the complex is then ready to satisfy your every request. The bride and groom are also offered the splendid bridal suite, from which to admire the Serenissima in all its beauty. Palazzo Dandolo is truly the perfect setting for a luxury wedding, unmissable for the most glamorous couples. If you are looking for a princely location, you will not be disappointed and will forever have a sweet memory of your wedding.

Palazzo Dandolo: the structure of the location

Palazzo Dandolo presents a majestic structure, spread over two floors full of lounges and suites. However, what is most striking about this splendid location is its privileged position on the riva degli Schiavoni. It also has a dock that can be used to access the structure directly by boat or gondola.

The luxurious building was built in perfect Venetian Gothic style, of which it has characteristic windows. Monofore, esafore and octofore... the scarlet façade of Palazzo Dandolo is a true triumph of art and beauty. Upon entering the building, visitors are then greeted by richly decorated rooms, with an endless succession of stuccoes, marble details and period furniture.

Palazzo Dandolo makes its most beautiful salons available for events and weddings. Depending on your wishes, you can choose between more intimate or convivial, but always in the name of luxury. Among these, the splendid Salone Marco Polo, the Hall Sansovino and the Sala Ducale stand out in particular.

The first is a romantic space in which to admire the splendid Murano chandeliers gently illuminating the marble floor. Ideal for a welcome toast and for after-dinner drinks, the Marco Polo Hall will impress you with its warm and relaxed atmosphere. The Sansovino Hall, on the other hand, is an equally refined but smaller and more intimate space. An exclusive banquet can be held here, with a maximum limit of 80 participants.

Finally, the Sala Ducale houses the hotel's gourmet restaurant. Featuring velvet armchairs, it enjoys a breathtaking view of San Marco. It is also possible to access the splendid panoramic terrace, linked to the palace restaurant for summer events.

Several suites are also furnished in perfect Baroque style, where guests can stay or prepare for the ceremony. The bride and groom are offered an overnight stay in the bridal suite for an all-round luxury experience.

Palazzo Dandolo is truly a magical, luxurious and princely venue. To organise your wedding here is to live a daydream. If you are looking for an exclusive and glamorous location, it will not disappoint.

In addition to being a wedding photographer, I am a husband (lucky!) and a dad (super lucky!).

I love happy tail wags and purring in the evening twilight, which is why we also have two beautiful furries in our family, Octavia and Nova.
I love the smell of the woods where everything is so wild, where you can reconnect deeply with nature. In the same way, I love the only means that allows you to stay firmly connected to the world around you, the motorbike.

My wife Giulia and I travelled across Europe to the North Cape, where we left a piece of our hearts.
