Tenuta Polvaro: the history

The beautiful Tenuta Polvaro is located in Annone Veneto, a short distance from beautiful Venice. The property dates back to the 17th century and has a long history linked to the Serenissima. The land where the Republic of Venice in fact owned the Villa stands. Here stood the immense Bosco di Loncon, famous for its valuable timber for the Arsenal. During the 17th century, however, Doge Morosini was forced to sell these lands, which the noble Polvaro family purchased.

They began clearing the land in 1681, turning it into an expanse of arable fields. A manor house, barchesse and an aristocratic chapel were also built. Over a few years, the area was thus completely transformed, becoming the site of a beautiful Veneto agricultural villa. During the 18th century, Tenuta Polvaro achieved great economic prestige. Thanks to a series of canals bordering the complex, it was possible for the Polvaro family to trade with the Serenissima. The estate's products and valuable local wood were purchased and transported by boat to Venice.

During the 19th century, Tenuta Polvaro continued its commercial rise, achieving great success through wine production. The estate was in fact known for its excellent Tocai, Cabernet and Riesling, which were particularly appreciated by the nobility of the Serenissima. Life on the estate continued to flow peacefully throughout the 20th century. The property passed to the Barbini family in 1939, who sold the estate to the Velo family in 1978.

In 2010, Tenuta Polvaro was finally purchased by the Candoni De Zan family. They began thoroughly restoring the complex, returning it to its former glory. Today the property is considered one of the most exclusive locations in which to organise refined events and purchase fine wine.

Tenuta Polvaro is a historic and exclusive location, perfect for hosting refined events and celebrations. Surrounded by green fields and rich vineyards, the structure dominates the surrounding landscape. Founded as an agricultural mansion, the property still features its ancient cellars. The wines produced by the property, such as Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and D.O.C. Prosecco, are famous.

Entering the gates of Tenuta Polvaro, visitors are immediately transported to a bygone era. Indeed, they are welcomed by the luxuriant centuries-old park, a green area rich in trees and rare plants.
