Villa Curtis: the history
The historic Villa Curtis stands in the special town of Cordovado, in the province of Pordenone. This town is part of the 'Most Beautiful Villages in Italy' association, thanks to the valuable monuments and buildings here. Villa Curtis, dating back to the 19th century, certainly stands out among them. It is a dominical building also known as Villa Zannier-Variola.
There are not many official documents that tell the history of the complex. The palace was probably built at the behest of Francesco Zannier in the early 19th century. Later, the villa passed to the noble Variola family, famous for their mills used for processing wheat.
During the 20th century, however, the Italian army requisitioned the facility and turned into a field hospital. In particular, during the Great War it housed the so-called Third Army, providing as many as 220 beds. With the outbreak of World War II, Villa Curtis suffered the same fate again, however, being used by German troops. The two conflicts left the structure in a state of extreme neglect and neglect.
It was not until 1996 that the complex and its park were substantially restored. In fact, in that year a series of major restorations of the structure began, mainly involving the Barchessa. Today, Villa Curtis has returned to its former splendour and is home to a famous restaurant, the Villa Curtis Vadi.
Villa Curtis: the perfect setting for a timeless, classic wedding
Villa Curtis is an enchanting place from which it is impossible not to be enchanted. Set in a historic village, it is a true gem of the Friuli landscape. For this reason, getting married in Villa Curtis means organising a wedding with a classic and timeless flavour.
Surrounded by a lush secular park and the typical quietness of the area, the structure offers corners of pure relaxation. Walking along the buildings' avenues, the bride and groom and their guests are transported back to bygone eras. Shots full of sentiment and poetry can be taken in the shade of the leafy branches of the centuries-old willows. Here you can set up chairs and tables for a bucolic aperitif in the open air during hot summer days.
If, on the other hand, you prefer to organise a classic event that winks at the Italian tradition, fear not. In fact, inside the barchessa of Villa Curtis you will find the complex's restaurant. Its two floors can accommodate even the largest of groups without any problems. Renovated in full respect of its historicity, the ancient barchessa will be the perfect setting for weddings with a more rustic flavour.
Villa Curtis is truly the ideal location for an unforgettable wedding, suitable for couples seeking an oasis of peace. By choosing it you will forever have a sweet memory of your wedding.
Villa Curtis: the structure of the location
Thanks to its fortunate location, Villa Curtis is one of the most magical places to celebrate a wedding. Located in one of Italy's most beautiful villages, it is one of the best-preserved Veneto-Hapsburg villas. In fact, Villa Curtis has a simple, linear, neoclassical structure.
Consisting of several buildings, the complex is nestled within a verdant, centuries-old park. This is rich in old trees and plants, under which the romantic paths of the structure branch off. As you walk along them, you reach the Villa's well-kept Italian garden, where you can admire several 19th-century statues and a beautiful fountain.
From here it is then possible to observe the buildings that make up Villa Curtis in all their magnificence. The dominical house consists of no less than three floors and was built on a rectangular plan. The façade presents the typical 19th-century symmetrical style and is embellished with architraved doors and windows. Two smaller side extensions are also visible, one of which ends in a spacious terrace.
The Villa contains large halls suitable for wedding receptions and business meetings, as well as more intimate and reserved rooms. These are obviously spaces where one can admire relics of the past now restored to their former glory. Next to the main building is the ancient Barchessa di Villa Curtis. This was completely renovated in 1996 and converted into a renowned restaurant. The Barchessa offers two enormous rooms, characterised by a beautiful terracotta floor and wooden ceiling. It also features a spectacular stained glass window, which opens directly onto the park of Villa Curtis.
