Ca' Tullio: the history

The beautiful Ca' Tullio winery is located in Aquileia, a town rich in olive groves in the province of Udine. The building dates back to the end of the 19th century and was purchased in 1928 by the Tullio family. Within a few years, the winery achieved surprising success. It was in fact one of the most important economic centres in the area, dedicated mainly to agricultural cultivation.

The most profitable activity that took place inside Ca' Tullio, however, was the drying of tobacco leaves. At the time, braziers were placed on the beaten earth floor of the large structure to heat the cellar.

In 1990, the Ca' Tullio complex was then purchased by Walter Calligaris. He converted the building into a wine cellar, giving rise to outstanding wine production. Since then, the family has managed the facility with great skill, handing it down from generation to generation. It is in fact two of Walter Calligaris' grandsons, Giacomo and Emanuele, who run the winery today.

Over the past few years, the Ca' Tullio winery has finally become a destination for many lovers of history and good wine. In fact, it has been included in the official FVG Tourism catalogue as one of the most beautiful places to visit.

Ca' Tullio: the perfect setting for a modern wedding

Ca' Tullio is truly a location as unique as it is spectacular. In fact, it stands out for its unusual architecture, in contrast to the typical local Veneto-style villas. With its red brick walls, it is therefore the perfect setting for modern and never ordinary weddings.

The large winery building is surrounded by a beautiful park, full of bucolic corners. Here you can celebrate your romantic civil ceremony, enjoying the coolness offered by the foliage of the trees. On hot summer days, this outdoor area is perfect for welcoming the bride and groom and their guests, offering views of infinite beauty. It will therefore be suitable for shooting your wedding photo shoot or celebrating late into the night. In the adjoining garden, the venue also provides elegant gazebos, under which to organise a cool aperitif.

However, the real gem of the structure is hidden inside the cellar. Indeed, it is impossible not to be deeply impressed by the architectural beauty of the complex. Crossing the threshold of Ca' Tullio, you enter the huge hall of the old barrique cellar. The latter retains all its twentieth-century charm, offering a unique setting for your events. The brick walls and high wooden ceilings are in fact perfect for industrial or country chic weddings. Everything here is taken care of with great attention, creating a simple but extremely elegant ambience.

You can then end the day in the ancient Roman taberna, giving vent to your gaiety. Here you will find a cosy and evocative place, rich in amphorae and precious draperies. Ca' Tullio is truly a magical and sophisticated location. It will be perfect for organising an unforgettable wedding among the vineyards of Friuli that will leave your guests speechless.

Ca' Tullio: the structure of the location

The old Ca' Tullio winery is a historic structure built amidst Friuli's vineyards at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. It is an example of 'industrial archaeology', included in the official catalogue of the regional tourist board.

The complex is distinguished by the characteristic red bricks of its façades embellished with crystal and copper finishes. The buildings of Ca' Tullio are also surrounded by a beautiful park, in which a centuries-old olive tree and a rose garden stand out. On hot summer days you can set up your aperitif and cake-cutting ceremony here or in the courtyard. From here you can also access the structure's vineyards, where you can set up your photo shoot.

Ca' Tullio obviously also has several indoor areas full of character. In fact, you can organise your receptions inside the airy rooms of the complex, including the barrique cellar. These are characterised by elegant exposed beams, terracotta floors and large windows, which lend great elegance to the location. This area can accommodate up to 500 people for a banquet in grand style.

Then there is a second room, dedicated to the after party. This is the atmospheric Roman taberna, where amphorae, precious curtains and a large marble bar stand out. Here you can celebrate until late thanks to the technological music system, while enjoying the excellent wine produced by the establishment. Finally, the wine cellar has a large internal car park and a kitchen for catering use. The service is provided by the renowned 'Deluxe Catering' company, headed by chef Massimiliano Cudiz.

I love the smell of the woods where everything is so wild, where you can reconnect deeply with nature. In the same way, I love the only means that allows you to stay firmly connected to the world around you, the motorbike.

My wife Giulia and I travelled across Europe to the North Cape, where we left a piece of our hearts.
