Villa Del Lupo: from the 15th century to the present day

Villa Del Lupo is a historic residence dating back to the 18th century and designed by Alessandro Gherardesca, a professor at the Academy of Fine Arts. It is located in the gentle province of Pisa, in the village of Arena di Metato. The Villa was built for the Del Lupo family, who owned the property for over three centuries.

During this period, the complex became a small palace. The family hired various artists, including the famous Luigi Catani, to create paintings and frescoes. It is thus possible to admire the passage of time in the Saloni, with works ranging from neoclassical to art nouveau. The park itself was embellished with statues, flowerbeds and minor buildings, such as a small chapel dating back to 1803.

Famous for its beauty, the Villa was often chosen as a film set. In 1964, for example, scenes from "A Rolls-Royce in Yellow", starring Alain Delon and Ingrid Berg, were filmed here. In 1975, however, Villa Del Lupo was abandoned. For more than 25 years the house remained empty and began a slow but inexorable period of decay and degradation. Fortunately, in the year 2000 a radical restoration project was initiated, which saved the Villa and its famous park. Open for weddings and events, today the Villa is also an elegant residence.

Villa Del Lupo: the structure of the location

Villa Del Lupo is an elegant building set in the gentle Pisan countryside. Surrounded by a verdant park, the structure offers a rich architectural and botanical variety. In fact, the garden was created in the neoclassical style. There are also statues, fountains and flowerbeds, which further embellish this rich green area.

Inside the park there is also a colonnaded hemicycle, an Italian and an English garden, a chapel and a lemon house. In a more rustic style, the latter has a beautiful wooden ceiling and is fully glazed. You can serve your banquet here while enjoying the view of the surrounding nature.

In the centre of the complex stands the majestic manor house. It is a vast building with façades covered with false balconies. Entering the interior of Villa Del Lupo, visitors are left speechless. From the vast salons to the most intimate rooms, every ceiling and wall is covered with precious neoclassical frescoes. There are also more recent elements created during the Art Nouveau period. The rooms here are elegant and luxurious, with perfectly preserved period furniture.
