Villa Tavanara: the history

Villa Tavanara is a beautiful historic mansion dating back to the 15th century. The structure stands in Nogara, surrounded by the gentle Veronese countryside. The first official historical records of the structure date back to 1471, when the complex was mentioned in the will of Donato Bovo.

Villa Tavanara was primarily known as the Court of the Holy House of Mercy, a Veronese hospital association founded in 1521 by Doge Loredan. The latter took possession of the Villa and its cultivated land in 1524, according to the bequest of the then owner, Count Provolo Giusti.

Over the following centuries, Villa Tavanara underwent many changes and abandoned its purely agricultural use, becoming an elegant residence. The structure thus attained its present appearance during the 18th century, a period when the cultivated land gave way to a large park.

After falling into a state of neglect, Villa Tavanara was eventually purchased by Gianpaolo and Lucia. Together with their son Marco, the couple saw to the restoration of the complex, returning the structure to its former glory. Villa Tavanara, now more splendid than ever, has thus been opened to the public, hosting weddings and private events.

In fact, going up along its avenues, visitors can admire the splendid centuries-old park, which gives quiet and privacy to the complex. It is green lung of more than three hectares, full of trees and flowering bushes, which gently fades into the well-kept garden of Villa Tavanara.

Available for weddings and events, the latter can accommodate about 300 guests, who can sit under the complex's elegant marquees. Villa Tavanara's garden can be used in the summertime for every stage of your celebrations, from the symbolic rite to the end-of-evening dj-set.
