Villa Valier: History

The beautiful 16th-century Villa Valier stands in Mira along the Riviera del Brenta. The house is also known as 'La Chitarra' because of a fresco depicting a girl playing the guitar. It is a magnificent Venetian-style residence, commissioned and built by the powerful Valier family. Members of the Venetian patriciate, they were representatives in the Grand Council of Venice for over a millennium. The family members included two Doges and two cardinals of the Catholic Church.

These prominent figures enhanced Villa Valier over the centuries, commissioning numerous frescoes and artistic works. In particular, Doge Silvestro Valier transformed the structure into a social centre, frequently organizing sumptuous receptions. A memorable event took place in 1666. The Doge dedicated a sumptuous reception to the future Empress Margaret of Habsburg.

In the course of the 19th century, however, Villa Valier's decline began with the demolition of the connecting factory on the bank of the Naviglio. This connected the main building to the river Sile, with a spectacular monumental façade directly overlooking the water. However, the owners decided to remove it to avoid paying additional taxes for the presence of the landing.

Towards the end of the 19th century, Villa Valier was bought first by the Valmarana family and then by the Rocca family. The Roccas began the restoration of the structure, which has continued in recent times. With the passage to the Corò family the Villa returned to its former glory, reopening its doors to events and weddings.

Villa Valier is one of the richest and most opulent Venetian residences along the Riviera del Brenta. With its mix of art, history and nature, it is the perfect location for weddings full of character. If you are looking for the perfect place to organize an elegant celebration, you will be delighted.

Surrounded by an immense centuries-old park, Villa Valier offers every corner for your wedding. At the edge of its green lung you will find the ancient landing place, which will allow you to make your entrance in a gondola. You can take a romantic photo shoot by strolling through the trees, immortalizing your sweet wedding forever.

Beyond the park you reach the well-kept garden, which can accommodate up to 800 guests. Here, you can organize your civil ceremony and a fantastic outdoor reception. Suitable for hot summer days, this little oasis of peace will be perfect for glamorous and youthful events. Before entering the Villa, you can admire the small church, which can be used for a solemn symbolic ceremony.

If you prefer to organize a more formal and elegant banquet, consider the large halls of the hotel. You will find a wide choice of spaces and settings to suit your every need. The main building halls are refined, rich in frescoes and perfect for more traditional and luxurious weddings. Inside the nearby barchessa, on the other hand, there is a more rustic atmosphere, ideal for an event in perfect shabby chic style.

Are you looking for a place to dance into the night undisturbed but still full of charm? Don't worry, Villa Valier also has a fantastic wine cellar, now converted into a bar area. You can let loose among the ancient barrels still preserved here, for a unique party that is never dull. Whatever your preference, Villa Valier will make your most beautiful day unforgettable. We are sure it will leave a sweet memory in your hearts and in those of your lucky guests.

Villa Valier: the structure of the location

As we have seen, the immense Villa Valier stands a few steps away from the river Sile. Surrounded by green fields and the bucolic panorama of the Riviera del Brenta, it stands out for its refined beauty.

Although divided into several buildings, Villa Valier has undergone some downsizing over the centuries. In the nineteenth century it lost its famous landing place, but it is still possible to access the structure by gondola. From here you then cross the large centuries-old park, which embraces the Villa, offering glimpses of rare beauty.

Near the main building you can admire the complex's garden, which can accommodate up to 800 people. From here you can access the ancient oratory, now used for symbolic rites and photo shoots. There is also a splendid barchessa, which can obviously be used for your events. This can accommodate 200 people, who can admire the perfectly preserved stone walls and wooden ceiling.

Upon entering the main building, visitors are welcomed into the splendid halls of the Villa. Tastefully furnished with period elements, these still retain the antique furniture dating back to the eighteenth century. Up to 150 guests can be accommodated on the ground floor, with access to the first floor via the impressive spiral staircase.

The rooms on the upper floor are certainly among the most refined and opulent. There are paintings, frescoes, stucco work and large Murano glass chandeliers. Going down into the old cellars dating back to the eighteenth century, visitors can enjoy a space set up as a disco and open bar, which can be used until late at night.

Villa Valier is a truly magnificent location in which to spend unforgettable moments. Thanks to the wide choice and diversity of its settings, it will be able to fulfil your every wish.
