The location of Villa Bonomi is one of the structures I have most enjoyed during my experience as a wedding photographer in Lake Como. Villa Bonomi: more than a century of history
The prestigious Villa Bonomi is an aristocratic residence dating back to the early 20th century. The immense structure, also known as Villa Ratti, overlooks Lake Como. Villa Bonomi was donated in 1926 to Anna Bonomi Bolchini, an Italian businesswoman, for her sixteenth birthday by her father.
The Villa was sold in the 1950s to Antonio Ratti, a famous Italian entrepreneur in the silk fabrics sector. At the turn of the 1960s, Villa Bonomi was further extended according to the design of architect Luigi Caccia Dominioni. The complex thus reached its current size, offering 11 suites to its guests.
In addition to the structural work, between 1957 and 1962 the exterior of the Villa was also carefully renovated. A beautiful Italian-style garden was created by Pietro Porcinai, Italy's greatest landscape architect. Porcinai created a true work of art, also creating terraces to extend the park. Villa Bonomi, in fact, stands on a small steep promontory, which would not have allowed the extension of the green area.
In 2020 the property was purchased by the famous flower and event designer Vincenzo Dascanio. Villa Bonomi is today one of the most exclusive locations for the organisation of events, weddings and gala evenings. Recently, the famous influencer Chiara Ferragni stayed in the villa with her family.

Villa Bonomi: the structure of the location
As we have seen, Villa Bonomi stands on a sheer drop to Lake Como and was therefore built on several terraces. The structure enjoys an incomparable view of the splendid basin below.
As soon as you arrive at the Villa, passing through the majestic entrance gate, you are immediately catapulted into a bucolic park. The well-kept garden of Villa Bonomi is truly breathtaking. Designed by one of Italy's greatest architects, Pietro Porcinai, it extends over several levels, with a rich variety of trees and flowers. You can stroll through this enchanted place following the beautiful paths created within it.
In the park you will also find the refined swimming pool and the loggia, from which you can enjoy the gentle view of the lake. These areas of great impact are available for your aperitifs and outdoor receptions. As you approach the main building, you reach the Villa's parterre. Immense and open on the lake, this can accommodate up to 400 people and can be enhanced with a beautiful marquee.
Entering the interior of the complex is simply stunning. Spread over three floors, the Villa manages to enchant its visitors with its unique and designer environments. After the recent renovation, the large communicating salons on the ground floor will leave you speechless. You will feel as if you are literally in paradise thanks to the impressive ceiling with its clear sky. From the precious marble to the wallpaper with gold details, the events held here are bound to leave visitors stunned.
Also on the ground floor, overlooking the garden, is an elegant boudoir, where cocktails are served or DJ sets can be arranged. On the first and second floors are the hotel's 11 suites, each with a private bathroom and luxury furnishings.
