Villa Godi Malinverni: history

The elegant Villa Godi Malinverni is located in Lugo di Vicenza, surrounded by the rolling hills of Bregonze. The structure, built in the 16th century, is one of the earliest works of Andrea Palladio, the famous Venetian architect. The villa is in fact part of the so-called Palladian villas, a group of structures that are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Commissioned by the Godi brothers in 1537, the mansion's construction was completed in 1542. Once this work was completed, they moved on to the decoration of the interiors. Gualtiero Padovano frescoed the loggia and the right wing of the villa. Around 1560 it was the turn of Giovanni Battista Zelotti to decorate the main hall and the left wing.

During the 19th century, Villa Godi Malinverni was further extended. In fact, the landscape architect Antonio Caregaro Negrini began the process of designing the structure's large park. He created a beautiful green area in perfect English Romantic style, embracing the previous Italian garden dating back to the 18th century.

During the First World War, Villa Godi Malinverni was chosen as the headquarters of several branches of the British army. The Chief of the General Staff established his headquarters here and the Prince of Wales stayed for a few months. From this moment on, however, the structure began its slow decline.

Fortunately, in 1962 Villa Godi Malinverni was purchased by Professor Remo Malinverni. He dedicated the last years of his life to restoring it to its former glory. Thanks to his hard work, aimed at revaluating the structure, Villa Godi Malinverni has today returned to its original state. Open for events and guided tours, it is also home to a museum and a famous restaurant.

Villa Godi Malinverni: the perfect setting for a princely wedding

As we have already mentioned, in the course of the seventeenth century Villa Godi Malinverni was transformed into a majestic and varied complex. Having overcome its period of decadence, the Villa is now considered the perfect location for princely weddings. Here, art and nature blend masterfully, providing an incomparable setting.

The atmospheric atmosphere is indescribable. Upon entering the romantic park, guests are immediately transported to a bygone era. You can organise your summer banquet and a splendid photo shoot in the green among the centuries-old trees and ancient statues. The courtyard is in fact the ideal setting for princely and cinematographic shots. Under the elegant portico you will find more romantic and private corners, suitable for shabby chic celebrations.

If you are looking for a more luxurious setting, the magnificent internal salons of Villa Godi Malinverni will surprise you. You will be able to enjoy the countless works of art present here, organising a refined and unique event. The structure's nine famous frescoed halls will also be the ideal setting for the most romantic of civil ceremonies.

Whatever your style, Villa Godi Malinverni will provide the right setting to make your dreams come true. From carefree weddings to more traditional events, you will find the perfect location for your special day.

Villa Godi Malinverni: the structure of the location

As we have seen, the historic Villa Godi Malinverni stands in a unique and enchanting location. Part of the famous Palladian villas, the structure became part of the UNESCO heritage in 1996.

Upon entering the complex gates, visitors are immediately greeted by the verdant parkland. Built during the mid-19th century, it is a huge green area designed in the English romantic style. It features flowerbeds, ancient trees, statues and a beautiful pond with numerous swans.

As you approach the main body of the Villa, you can see the well-kept Italian garden, embellished with marble basins and fountains. Here it is possible to organise aperitifs and summer receptions, enjoying the splendid view of the surrounding landscape. A splendid portico opens onto this area, which can also be used to host your banquet.

Alternatively, you can of course choose to celebrate your wedding in the main building of Villa Godi Malinverni. This is a majestic building with a tripartite facade and a splendid loggia. It houses an enormous artistic heritage with an appearance similar to that of a medieval castle.

Climbing the beautiful staircase, one enters the stunning Saloni of the Villa. There it’s all finely frescoed and full of period furnishings; these are the ideal location for dream receptions. Depending on your needs, you can choose between two different settings:

  • the Central Hall, suitable for a maximum of 100 guests

In addition to being a wedding photographer, I am a husband (lucky!) and a dad (super lucky!).

I love happy tail wags and purring in the evening twilight, which is why we also have two beautiful furries in our family, Octavia and Nova.
I love the smell of the woods where everything is so wild, where you can reconnect deeply with nature. In the same way, I love the only means that allows you to stay firmly connected to the world around you, the motorbike.

My wife Giulia and I travelled across Europe to the North Cape, where we left a piece of our hearts.
