Villa Gozzi: the history

Villa Gozzi is a historical residence dating back to the end of the 17th century. It stands in Pasiano, in the province of Pordenone, surrounded by the gentle Friulian countryside. According to historical documents, the Gozzi family settled here from Venice, where they had distinguished themselves in the silk trade. Thanks to their contribution, agricultural work in the area intensified, enriching the property enormously. Before long, Villa Gozzi became not only the seat of a successful business but also a place of cultural exchange.

However, in the first half of the 18th century, the family's decline began, as they became increasingly distracted by worldly life and literary salons. In fact, Gasparo and Carlo Gozzi founded the Accademia dei Granelleschi in Venice in 1747, defending the Italian literary tradition. They used to host friends and literati at Villa Gozzi, organising parties and cultural events.

And it was during those years that the mansion was modified and rebuilt. In an attempt to reduce expenses and make the structure more elegant, the barchesse and stables were demolished. Thus was born the present Villa Gozzi, in which the brothers devoted themselves solely to their literary activities from that time.

During the First World War, however, the Austro-Hungarian army occupied the structureand turned into a stable. Later the Villa was again occupied by the German Command during the Second World War. With the end of the conflicts, tranquillity slowly returned to the Villa. The mansion is still owned today by the heirs of the Gozzi family. Over the years, they have restored the structure to its former glory, opening it up to visits and events.

Villa Gozzi presents an elegant and linear structure in the typical style of the marvellous Venetian villas. Although it was reduced in size during the 14th century, its large park will still be perfect for hosting large events.

The Villa's green area is in fact ready to welcome you, offering suggestive walks among century-old trees and flowering bushes. Passing through the park you will then reach the well-kept Italian-style garden of Villa Gozzi. From here you can observe the main building, admiring its characteristic orange façades. These are interspersed at the back with numerous windows, through which one can access the splendid greenhouse. This is a unique environment, recreated in perfect boho chic style, in which one can admire period furniture and beautiful paintings.

Spread over three floors, Villa Gozzi houses a priceless artistic heritage. Here art and culture blend to perfection, creating unique and elegant environments.
