The location of Villa Sandi is one of the structures that I have most appreciated during my experience as a wedding photographer in Treviso. Villa Sandi: the history

The luxurious Villa Sandi stands at the foot of the Prosecco Hills of Valdobbiadene. The Palladian-style structure was erected in 1622 at the behest of the patrician Sandi family. The latter, in fact, desired a foothold in the area to more easily manage the wine production of their land.

Over the following decades, Villa Sandi hosted personalities of great cultural and historical prestige within its elegant walls. These included Antonio Canova, the painter Schiavoni, writers Caccianiga and Corso and, above all, Napoleon Bonaparte. The structure was thus transformed into a small social center, known and appreciated for the events organized here.

However, during the nineteenth century, the Sandi family began its slow decline. The Villa thus passed to different owners, including the Serraggiotto and Cassis families, of Hungarian origin. Abandoned for good with the outbreak of World War I, Villa Sandi later became the headquarters of the Italian military command. During the years of the conflict, a dense network of tunnels was dug underground, connecting the mansion to the Piave front.

Even during World War II, Villa Sandi continued to have great strategic importance. Initially it was used as a refuge for the Bishop's College of Treviso. Requisitioned by the German army, it was later transformed into a depot and workshop for the latter.

When the conflicts ended, Villa Sandi was abandoned, remaining uninhabited until the early 1980s. Purchased by the Moretti Polegato family and completely renovated, the structure is now home to an important winery, including as many as five estates scattered between Veneto and Friuli. Prominent among them is the Tenuta di Valdobbiadene, home of the famous Locanda Sandi.

Villa Sandi: the structure of the location

The majestic Villa Sandi, as we anticipated, is an ancient Palladian-style mansion surrounded by the vineyards of Treviso. The administrative headquarters of a major winery, the structure makes its splendid Valdobbiadene estate, Locanda Sandi, available for events and weddings.

The latter is a refined farmhouse dating back to the early 20th century, now converted into a renowned agritourism. Surrounded by fields and a romantic park, the Villa Sandi Inn has a classic and elegant design. The facade of the complex, covered with romantic climbing ivy, directly overlooks the garden, in which you can take advantage of a romantic gazebo for your events. From here you can also access the rustic porch, under which you can host aperitifs and banquets.

The main body of Locanda Sandi houses, however, the real beating heart of the structure. Upon entering the building, guests are welcomed into the spacious Restaurant Hall. Made in country style, this room features a beautiful wooden ceiling and stone walls. There is also no shortage of lace and hand-embroidered tablecloths, porcelain and romantic abat-jours, which embellish the room, giving it warmth. On the second floor, however, is a large English-style veranda. Also clearly rustic in inspiration, it houses a large fireplace inside and overlooks the vineyards directly.

The inn of Villa Sandi is then home to a renowned B&B, in which you can stay overnight and organize a short romantic getaway.
