The location of Villa da Schio is one of the locations that I have most appreciated during my experience as a wedding photographer in Veneto. Villa da Schio: history

The beautiful 17th century Villa da Schio is located a few kilometres from Vicenza, in the historic town of Castelgomberto. The complex was built by the wealthy Piovene family, counts of Vicenza.

Villa da Schio was planned and designed by architect Antonio Pizzocaro, following the canons of Palladian style. Initially it comprised two distinct bodies, one for each of the Piovene brothers. The first was located next to the chapel and the second where the Barchesse are today. Later the brothers preferred to build a single palace, with a more majestic and elegant appearance.

According to the original plan, Villa da Schio was to be built on the banks of the Agno River. However, following a flood, the Counts decided to move the structure to its present location. This also changed the layout of the complex, which took on its present appearance.

Once the building work on the Villa had been completed, the Piovene family also decided to embellish the adjacent area. To harmonise the grandeur of the structure, a magnificent park and portico were designed in the 18th century. The Piovene family retained ownership of the Villa for several centuries before passing it on through inheritance to the Porto family. However, during the Second World War, Villa da Schio was occupied by German troops.

Subsequently the complex passed to the da Schio family, who still own it today. The da Schio family undertook extensive restoration work on the structure and the park, restoring the Villa to its former glory. Today, the structure is an exclusive location, suitable for private events such as weddings and meetings and a place where to find hospitality.

Among the tall poplars and the eighteenth-century statues, you will be able to take romantic photographs with a dreamy, princely feel. Carefully restored in recent times, from here you can still enjoy an incomparable view over the green park. The large windows open onto both the facade and the inner cloister, providing an incredible play of light. Villa da Schio: the structure of the location

The immense Villa da Schio, as we have seen, stands in the gentle countryside of Vicenza. Surrounded by green fields and numerous streams, the structure is a true architectural jewel. Entering the gates of the villa, one enters a luxuriant secular wood. Several paths branch out from it, from which it is possible to observe the many statues present here. Inside the park there is an elegant pool, beyond which the Italian garden of the complex extends.

The latter, full of geometric hedges and flowering bushes, surrounds the entire Villa and is clearly visible through its high windows. Passing through the entrance to the building, visitors are welcomed into the large main hall. Decorated with simplicity and elegance, it features a beautiful Venetian-style floor, delicate stucco work and a white wooden ceiling. Here it is possible to serve the wedding banquet or organise a rich buffet.

Through a further window, one reaches the central cloister of Villa da Schio. This is surrounded by a neoclassical portico and contains a second Italian garden. In this large area it is possible to organise elegant summer weddings while admiring the architecture of the Villa. In addition to the cloister, there is also the ancient Barchessa from the 18th century and the small chapel of Santa Maria Maddalena. Finally, there are four residences within the perimeter of the structure, where it is possible to stay overnight.
