The location of Villa Marchese de Fabris is one of the locations that I have most appreciated during my experience as a wedding photographer in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Villa Marchese de Fabris: history

The beautiful Villa Marchese de Fabris stands in Begliano, in the countryside of the Basso Isontino. There is not much certain information about the origin and history of the building. However, the Villa certainly dates back to the early eighteenth century, as reported in some historical documents. The splendid structure was built at the behest of Marquis de Fabris on the occasion of his marriage to Countess Savorgnan.

During the nineteenth century, Villa Marchese de Fabris was then divided among the different members of the family. However, the owner of the main part of the structure, Francesco de Fabris, soon decided to move to Portogruaro, leaving it uninhabited. In a short time the structure began its decline, which made it unrecognizable within a few decades.

It was only in 1880, thanks to Francesco's grandson, that the property was reunited and restored to its former glory. However, during the First World War, the palace was unfortunately hit by bombing and rebuilt by soldiers. The soldiers turned the Villa into a field hospital, first for the Italian army and then, after Caporetto, for the Austro-Hungarian army.

The de Fabris family retained ownership of the building until 1939, when the family's last descendant died. Villa Marchese de Fabris passed to the Ventrella family as there were no direct heirs. From the early 1950s until 1970, it was also used as the home of the town's Kindergarten Sisters.

Over the following decades, members of the Ventrella family worked hard to restore the complex. Today, Carla Ventrella, with the support of the Bacci family, still manages Villa Marchese de Fabris. In the early months of 2022, further renovation work began to recover the complex's ancient facades.

The immense Villa Marchese de Fabris, as we have seen, stands in the gentle countryside of Gorizia. Surrounded by green fields, the structure is famous for its historical and cultural importance. Reaching the walls that enclose the property, it is impossible not to admire the rich vineyards that surround it. It is a unique panorama, adored by the many visitors to the property.

Villa Marchese de Fabris is also embellished by a lush park, gently embracing it. The park is home to centuries-old trees and flowerbeds, which then transform into an elegant Italian garden. The buildings that make up the complex overlook it, including a historic consecrated church. Dedicated to St Anthony of Padua, it is available for religious weddings on site.

Next to the chapel is the tall façade of the building. It has simple and classical lines in eighteenth-century style, but embellished by a grandiose double staircase in stone. From here it is possible to access a refined portico and admire a large fountain in the centre of the garden.

Passing through the tall main door of the villa, one enters the large internal halls. These are large, elegant spaces, decorated with stucco and delicate wood panelling. The rooms are warm, welcoming yet extremely simple. The main hall can accommodate up to 120 people, who can also access more private corners in the adjoining rooms.
